#2True, the only things that don't get stretched are the overlayed graphics like the scoreboard, etc.
The FOV is probably in the camera files somewhere, but there is nothing that refers to horizontal or vertical.

#3Jup, your a 100% correct, all I did is replace the values of the resolution to the values I really want.
I was hoping that EA will automatically render the FOV but they didn't, they really messed up this game and other EA games.
If you guys have any ideas what or how EA could does the FOV I could attempt reverse engineering it and see if it will work out.
But all this patch will do is increase the resolution where it does look nicer than a stretched lower resolution!

#4I commend your efforts, Mohamed! I ran your patch and chose the 1920x1200 option. However, when I went to play the game, I set the screen resolution to 800x600 in the system settings. I did not notice any changes that would make it look as if it was widescreen?! Do I need to change my actual WINDOWS screen resolution? Please don't think I'm crazy; I ask this because perhaps then it would look stretched. Thanks!

#5Hey there,
I am usually lurking here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12371 , where they discuss widescreen fixes/patches! Basically, what my patch does, it just changes the resolution, not the fov settings for widescreen, so I assumed Electronic Arts calculates FoV based on the resolution size, so if you take a look at the screenshots, the resolution is quite bigger but some people say the image has been stretched.
So what I say, EA implemented their CalculateFOV method incorrectly, and there is no way for me to reimplement it for them unless I reverse engineer their executable, which I am looking into it now. This patch just increases resolution making the graphics look better but some people say it gets stretched horizontally since EA calculates it as 4:3 not 6:10

#7ank71, usually there are 2 ways (LCD panel, Video Card control panel) Since you have NVIDIA, take a look at the panel and make sure you place Aspect Ratio in the advance properties. That should allow you to use a fixed ratio so no distortions will take place.

#10"I don't know" make sure you have the pre-requesites installed such as .NET 2.0 (windows vista would work, in windows xp or earlier, you need to install .net 2.0)

#14@John
It should, this small hack is just a hexadecimal tweak, it replaces 800x600 by any resolution you need. According to widescreengamingforums, NBA 07 should work with this tweak.

#15m0,
I tried to use this but the program says it is looking for the NBA Live 08 folder. Is there anyway you can make this hack look for the NBA Live 07 or NBA Live 06 folders and executable>
Thanks for your help in advance.

#20John and Bert, your right, this application searches for nba08.exe, if nba08.exe is not found in default path it will ask you where it is.. I didn't like the PC Version of NBA but I am playing it on my PS3, I am not going to buy anymore EA Sport games since it is clear they truly don't care about Widescreen gaming support.
John, rename the file to nba08.exe and patch it then rename it back to nba07.exe for now. If you know how to code C#, use C# reflector to reverse engineer this executable and rename the 7 to a 8.
Bert, it does allow you to choose destination for NBA08
Salem, pay 49.99 to buy the game, the developers worked hard to develop this game and cost a lot of money. Last month I bought 3 new games, download the demo and if you like it, then buy it.
T00M, ah, I forgot about that. I had Windows XP 32bit. Hmm
Let me try to fix the bugs, I lost my source code cause my computer crashed, but I will reverse engineer this code and try to make stuff work.

#24Hello, many of you found some nice bugs, since I lost my source code, I spent an hour last night reverse engineering it and fixing the bugs.
Here are the updates:
* Works on x86 and x64 Windows Operating systems
* Works on Windows Vista and Windows XP
* If location is not found, it will ask you to specify a different location
* It only works for NBA Live 08
* It will automatically grab your current Screen Resolution and set that as your defaults
* It will allow you to specify any screen resolution you want, instead of a drop down box.
* More error checking in case patching fails.
If you find any more bugs let me know. Sorry for the delay...

#27Hi! I tried ur patch and I want to ask u sth:
- When I am in the game, The detail is really bad! this detail is (800x600 settings)? So I really need the detail more than the resolution :(
- I monitor the FPS by Fraps, and everytime I call "Time out" I realize the fps is fall down and then up again? is it normal?

#28A can't run the patcher...
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135).Click on OK to terminate the application"
I've installed NBA on C:
Do you know what is the problem?

#29stefan: Make sure you have .NET 2.0 installed since that is the prerequisite. Google .NET 2.0 Framework
abbath: I can't help you regarding hardware limitation. All this patch does is, replace 800x600 with your desired resolution. So stretching will occur.

#1This patch will only stretch image, it won't be 'a real' widescreen resolution. Thanks anyway.
